About From Slaveships to Relationships: Narratives of Healing

The African Holocaust and its ongoing ramifications has destroyed/destroys much of the collective memory of African descendents across the world. Two independent Filmmakers/Activists embark on a journey of healing and discovery across the African Diaspora in an effort to gain greater insight into the challenges people of African descent face worldwide in fostering healthy loving relationships. This is achieved by deconstructing then analyzing the effects/affects of centuries of Colonial Imperialism which has led to a disconnect and lost of cultural identity for transplanted Africans across the world.

The film From Slaveships to Relationships will be used as an analytical tool to understanding and explaining the African experience in the Diaspora and to suggest modalities for social and cultural healing and reconstruction. The project initiates an intellectual and ideological movement while initiating dialogues around intimacy, the purpose of which is to construct a theoretical framework that will allow people of African descent to explain the universe as it reflects their collective interests, values and vision.
